Program
Goal: The goal of this program is to see that children obtain a level of academic readiness equal to or greater than that of their peers.

Eligibility: This program is designed primarily for hearing-impaired children between the ages of one and six.

Content: The teacher of the hearing impaired concentrates on language building, auditory training, self-help skills, and oral and manual communication. Parent conferences and training are also a vital part.

Speech pathology services including classroom participation and small group therapy is added to the curriculum around age two for those already enrolled. A 2-5 day a week program is usually appropriate. This includes a regular preschool and kindergarten classroom curriculum for the hearing-impaired.

Speech and Language Therapy
Regular Standardized Measurements of Progress
Sign Language Class/Parent Support Group

Summer Camp

Where Communication is the Key
Realizing the need for carryover, ongoing reinforcement, special requirements, and interactive opportunities, The Speech & Hearing Center has responded to requests and suggestions from parents and the community to provide an all day summer camp for hearing-impaired children.

Learning
Attention will be given to areas of concern submitted by the parents and teachers to reinforce academic readiness and academic skills.
