and Motivation
This course is designed to help the student understand the importance of positive
human relations in the medical field.
Medical Law
and Ethics
This course helps the student understand moral behavior, acceptable standards
of conduct and professional relations. Emphasis is placed on the ways in which
the laws of Georgia and the United States impact the daily practice of the
medical professional.
Fundamentals
of Nursing I
This course introduces the student to basic nursing care and clinical skills.
Consideration is given to the fundamental role of the PCT to develop skills
in communicating and understanding residents. Resident safety, infection control,
body mechanics, bed making, and assisting residents with daily care are some
of the topics included in the course.
Medical Database
Management
This course is designed to help students gain proficiency in keying data,
managing information systems, file processing and data organization. A software
program involving medical office billing is utilized as part of the practice.
EKG Lab Skills
This course is a study of the cardiovascular system with emphasis placed on
function, common diseases and diagnostic exams.
Specimen Collection
/ Special Procedures
This course is designed to provide students with skills required to collect
various specimen required for tests, and to also perform procedures such as
patient assessment, urinary catherization, and sterile dressing changes.
Basic Nutrition
/ First Aid / CPR
This course is designed to introduce the student to the basic food groups,
nutrients, their functions, and the use of therapeutic diets.
Medical Assisting Program
Medical Assistant's serve in: private physicians office; clinics; hospitals;
private care facilities, nursing / convalescent homes; industrial firms
requiring health care personnel and insurance companies.
They also practice in state,
county and local health departments or clinics. Medical Assistants aid
the physician in offices, examining rooms and laboratories. Medical Assistant's
are a vital link, a liaison, between the doctor and the patient.
